A person who laced candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and 10.

The defendant was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

However, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a young boy.

The accused was remanded in custody before a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he operated.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She told the court Ruben had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

The prosecutor added: "This year his stepchild had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepson contacted the police about his worries.

She said the defendant went on to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.

"The police had not gone out by that time," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the incident.

Mrs Prior explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement again.

She explained Ruben then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
