19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.
The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to force a third set.
He rescued four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
